I have worked with a lot of military patients with PTSD while doing volunteer work and although their experiences differ they still showed many if not all of the same symptoms. It would be great to say that unlike other things there is a fast and easy treatment, sadly as you clearly already know there is not. I have however seen many people over come many of their fears and flashbacks by talking about it, sure it does not happen over time but eventually it doesn't seem so bad to talk about. You have already opened up to your family and friends which is great. Hopefully over time your symptoms will not be as severe. Taking little steps to over come them though might help if you haven't looked at it that way yet. See what gives you the least amount of anxiety and start from there. We had members in our group make a list from 0 to 100 on things that gave them no anxiety to unable to handle. I wish you luck with your recovery.
